BizzyB, our project-based learning platform was funded recently for a bit over $1M. The project is being produced and marketed under non-profit 501C3 BizGym Foundation via grants from the Hoag Foundation and Google.
In Hawaii, we use a Japanese term called, “batchi” which means if you do something bad, something bad will happen to you. It’s like negative karma. For example, imagine playing golf and you’re walking up the fairway hysterically laughing at your friend who just wiffed the ball for the third time and you step on a rake and it whacks you in the nose… that’s batchi.
In our case, we run a non-profit that provides innovation challenges for kids. We like to think that we’re doing the right thing. Then one day the Chairman of a family foundation notices our works and decides to help. So we get invited to apply for a grant and they give us 3X more than what we first asked for. That’s Reverse Batchi at work. Do the right thing and the universe will answer you in big way.
